Strong fields in the Waikato Winter Strokeplay 2020

Waikato Winter Strokeplay 2020 - 17 - 19 July 2020

Riverside Golf Club welcomed strong fields in both the men and women's divisions of the Waikato Winter Strokeplay 2020. The fields accompanied by the great weather conditions saw outstanding displays of golf by the players.

Two new winners Tyler Wood (Palmerston North) and Danika Lee (Takapuna) take out the honours this year.

Tyler Wood and Samuel Jones tied at -11 under after 72 holes, needed extra holes to find the outright winner. Tyler secured the win after playoff holes #18 and #1 with a par on the last. Tyler has been thereabouts in this tournament, missing out last year to a long clutch putt by eventual winner Jayden Ford. Tyler played solid golf throughout the 72 holes and deservedly takes the honours this year, ironically with a clutch putt on the last hole of the playoff.

Danika Lee wins her division with consistent rounds of 70-69-70-74 scoring -9 under after 72 holes leading from start to finish, with Eunseo Choi hard on her heels 2 back at -7 under. A fine performance from Ing Iadpleum (Riverside), recording a credible 3rd placing.
